University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) was formed on 1 April 2021. We employ nearly 20,000 people and have an operating budget of more than £1 billion. We run seven hospitals in Chichester, Worthing, Shoreham, Haywards Health and Brighton and Hove, as well as numerous community and satellite services. The trust is responsible for all district general acute services for Brighton and Hove, West and Mid Sussex and parts of East Sussex. We also provide specialised and tertiary services across Sussex and parts of the South East, including neuroscience, arterial vascular surgery, neonatology, specialised paediatric, cardiac, cancer, renal, infectious diseases and HIV medicine services. The new post of Managing Director will have a significant portfolio including executive accountability for delivery and performance management of safe and effective clinical services in the hospitals and wider place based care around St Richards in Chichester, Princess Royal in Haywards Heath, Southlands Hospital in Shoreham and Worthing Hospital. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and a key part of the executive team the post holder will also have a Trust wide leadership role across service and corporate areas.
An established operational leader with substantial senior management experience, the Managing Director will lead on the delivery of integrated performance and transformation in line with our Patient First ethos. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a track record of delivery gained in a leadership role at or near Board level within large and complex healthcare organisations. You will have substantial experience of delivering transformation, are able to demonstrate how you have enabled high quality, safe and effective services for patients across a range of services working with and through high performing teams.
Through excellent leadership you will enable us to deliver the highest quality of care in line with our values. This means providing safe, seamless services, with the best possible patient experience and outcomes. You will bring resilience, credibility, integrity, and creativity to the role, as well as the capability to inspire and motivate a wide range of staff and stakeholders in the Trust and across the Sussex ICS.
